Travelling exhibition wild bees

Visit the travelling exhibition ‘Wild bees - highly endangered and indispensable’ - designed by the German Wildlife Foundation.

The travelling exhibition provides information about the vital needs of wild bees, the threats to which they are exposed and shows how we can actively contribute to their protection by designing bee-friendly gardens and balconies.

Germany is home to around 580 species of wild bees, which are important pollinators that ensure agricultural yields, especially in fruit and vegetable cultivation. They also help to preserve the diversity of wild flowers. However, the habitat for wild bees and other insects is becoming increasingly scarce. There is a lack of food and nesting opportunities. Around half of the species are already on the Red List of endangered animals, and some are extinct or directly threatened with extinction.

In addition to mites and viruses, the decline in wild bees is primarily due to human activities. The changes to our landscapes in recent decades, particularly due to the intensification of agriculture, increasing building development and soil sealing, have led to a loss of valuable habitats and foraging areas.

We look forward to your visit!
